Summary: Graphdiyne (GDY), as a new two-dimensional carbon hybrid material, has garnered attention for its good conductivity, adjustable electronic structure, and unique electron transfer enhancement properties, showing great potential in the field of photocatalytic hydrogen evolution by water splitting. This study successfully prepared GDY using the cross-coupling method and obtained 0.05CIGCS-R with excellent photocatalytic performance through morphology modulation. The photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rates of 0.05CIGCS-R were significantly higher than those of pure GDY and CdS-R, showcasing the promising application of GDY in photocatalysis and the construction of a tandem S-scheme heterojunction.

Construct 3D NiCo-LDH/Cu2O p-n heterojunction via electrostatic self-assembly for enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Bridging Effect of S-C Bond for Boosting Electron Transfer over Cubic Hollow CoS/g-C3N4 Heterojunction toward Photocatalytic Hydrogen Production

Summary: The construction of interfacial effects and chemical bonds between catalysts can effectively facilitate photogenerated electron transfer. In this study, a novel catalyst was successfully constructed and connected with a photocatalyst through a chemical bond, acting as a bridge for electron transmission. Furthermore, it was found that this chemical bond can rapidly transfer photogenerated carriers and achieve high-efficiency hydrogen evolution. The experimental results showed that this structure can enhance the hydrogen production compared to traditional materials.

Fabrication of NiFe-PBA-S/ZnCdS form S-scheme for improved photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Summary: By using hydrothermal vulcanization method, NiFe-PBA was converted to NiFe-PBA-S while maintaining its original three-dimensional cubic structure. NiFe-PBA-S/ZnCdS was successfully synthesized and showed significantly higher hydrogen evolution rate. The unique three-dimensional structure of NiFe-PBA-S acted as an excellent growth site for ZnCdS nanoparticles and inhibited the recombination of electron-hole pairs with S-scheme heterojunction. This research expands upon the notion of designing efficient photocatalysts for hydrogen evolution.

In situ irradiated X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (ISIXPS) is an effective technique to study electron transfer pathways in S-scheme heterojunctions. This Perspective provides an introduction to the development and formation mechanism of S-scheme photocatalysts, explains the principles of XPS and ISIXPS measurements, and discusses their applications in confirming interfacial electron transfer in S-scheme heterojunctions. Suggestions for future research on the utilization of ISIXPS in S-scheme heterojunctions are proposed.

2D/2D S-scheme heterojunction with a covalent organic framework and g-C3N4 nanosheets for highly efficient photocatalytic H2 evolution

Summary: The fabrication of S-scheme heterojunctions with fast charge transfer and good interface contacts can improve photocatalytic performance. In this study, a unique two-dimensional/two-dimensional (2D/2D) heterojunction consisting of TpPa-1-COF/g-C3N4 nanosheets was developed, which exhibited a Tr-Tr conjugated interfacial structure. The presence of a built-in electric field resulting from spontaneous interfacial charge transfer enhanced charge separation and utilization via the S-scheme mechanism. The photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate of TPCNNS-2 was approximately 2.8 and 5.6 times higher than that of pristine TpPa-1-COF and g-C3N4 nanosheets, respectively, under visible light irradiation.

Mechanochemical preparation and application of graphdiyne coupled with CdSe nanoparticles for efficient photocatalytic hydrogen production

Efficient photocatalytic hydrogen evolution over graphdiyne boosted with a cobalt sulfide formed S-scheme heterojunction

Summary: Graphdiyne (GDY), a novel two-dimensional carbon hybrid material, has attracted significant attention due to its unique and excellent properties. This study reports new progress in the preparation of a composite material, Co9S8-GDY-CuI, using CuI powder as a catalytic material and a facile hydrothermal method. The Co9S8-GDY-CuI exhibited hydrogen production activity 10.29 times higher than that of pure GDY in the sensitization system. Characterization techniques provided evidence for the successful preparation of the material and its superior photocatalytic activity. A possible reaction mechanism and the effects of Co9S8 nanoparticles were also discussed.

In-situ construction of metallic Ni3C@Ni core-shell cocatalysts over g-C3N4 nanosheets for shell-thickness-dependent photocatalytic H2 production

Summary: The shell-thickness-controlled Ni3C@Ni/g-C3N4 photocatalysts were designed with intimate Schottky junctions using an in situ high-temperature transformation strategy. In-situ preparation of TiO2/N-doped graphene hollow sphere photocatalyst with enhanced photocatalytic CO2 reduction performance
