Kidney transplant program specific reporting and transplant metrics

Kenneth A. Andreoni

Summary: Under the new proposed kidney transplant metrics, over 10% of programs are expected to be deemed as underperformers or 'flagged'. Transplant Center flagging is correlated with decreased transplantation due to centers moving towards more conservative organ and patient acceptance. The strict regulation by HRSA in the USA leads to high organ discard rates and limits transplant opportunities for patients with perceived risks.

Consumer selection and home health agency quality and patient experience stars

Margot L. Schwartz et al.

Summary: This study compared the impact of introducing two different sets of star ratings on home health agency selection and found that the introduction of star ratings increased the probability of selecting high-quality and highly ranked patient experience agencies. Different populations showed varying likelihoods of choosing highly rated agencies, indicating that star ratings may mitigate disparities in HHA selection.
