An efficient strategy has been developed for the preparation of a series of rigid cores based on 1,10-biadamantane. Disproportionation of bromobenzene in the alkylation was observed through the effect of AlCl3 or AlBr3. Proposed mechanisms of these reactions have also been outlined on the basis of the results obtained.
