A novel porphyrin and pyrene-based conjugated microporous polymer (Por-Py-CMP) was synthesized via Sonogashira-Hagihara cross coupling reaction. It exhibited a high Brunauer-Emmett-Teller specific surface area (1014 m(2) g(-1)) and high pore volume (0.81 cm(3) g(-1)). Por-Py-CMP demonstrated an excellent capacity for capturing carbon dioxide (13.2 wt%) at 273 K and 1 bar, and an outstanding ability to uptake iodine. It also showed high efficiency for singlet oxygen generation.
