This paper provides an in-depth investigation into the effects of sliding velocity on the transition of wear mechanism in (Zr,Cu)(95)Al-5 bulk metallic glass (BMG). With the increase of sliding velocity, the wear rate decreased at first, and then rapidly increased. The compacted transfer layer was formed on the counterfaces at higher speeds. It confirmed that the BMG underwent the transition of wear mechanism from oxidative wear to delamination wear. Besides, the appearance of tribo-layer including fragmentized area at the interface of tribo-layer and matrix may be a critical point for the transition of wear mechanism. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd.
