We describe a new and efficient total synthesis of 6-epi-phomonol from commercially available tri-O-acetyl-D-glucal. A key feature of the synthesis involves a stereoselective Michael addition using a magnesium cyanocuprate. (C) 2016 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
