In this paper a novel, easily available, on-off-on fluorescent and colorimetric probe based on Phenothiazine was synthesized and characterized by H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR and ESI-MS. Results showed selective and sensitive recognition towards Hg2+ and S2- with no significant interference with other competitive metal ions and anions. The detection limit of Hg2+ was found to be 17.8 nM. Furthermore the probe has been utilized for fluorescence imaging of Hg2+ in live cells. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
