Herein, we report the fabrication and characterization of highly sensitive and selective electrochemical biosensor for the detection of arsenic using L-leucine as bio-recognition element based on graphene oxide (GO). The fabricated biosensor exhibited a high and reproducible sensitivity of 30 mu A ppm(-1) cm(-2) and detection limit of 0.5 ppm. Further, the fabricated biosensor was applied to analyze the real environmental samples to detect the quantity of arsenic. Interestingly, the observed real environmental sample analysis results exhibited close agreement with the results obtained from standard techniques. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
