Fine particles of calcium niobate Ca2Nb2O7 with diameters of 200-300 nm were prepared via combination of solvothermal synthesis and post-calcination; the obtained Ca2Nb2O7 particles with orthorhombic phase showed much higher activity for photocatalytic water-splitting under UV light irradiation than those prepared via other conventional synthesis methods.
