Catherine A. Masao et al.

Summary: This study applied the conceptual framework of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) to a participatory assessment of local perspectives on nature, people, and sustainability in Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. The stakeholders agreed that the condition and extent of habitats and Nature's Contributions to People (NCP) are declining, with land use and climate change identified as the key drivers. Measures related to land and water management, education, and awareness were suggested to address the decline in species diversity and its drivers.
