Are 'Dirty Hands' Possible?

Summary: This paper argues for the conceptual coherence of 'dirty hands' scenarios by responding to the criticism made by deontologists and consequentialists. It examines two influential arguments against dirty hands, namely the 'Arguments from Deontic Logic' and the 'All-Things-Considered Argument', and raises doubts about their efficacy. Additionally, the paper explores the moral emotion of 'tragic remorse' to support the possibility of dirty hands and rejects a reductionist account of our moral reality.
