Anabolic Steroids Use Is Associated with Impairments in Atrial and Ventricular Cardiac Structure and Performance in Athletes

Antoine Grandperrin et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) on cardiac morphology and function in strength athletes. The results showed significant abnormalities in left atrial and left ventricular parameters in users compared to nonusers. Screening echocardiography based on speckle tracking echocardiography parameters for early diagnosis and increased awareness among athletes and physicians is recommended in this context.

Knee strength symmetry at 4 months is associated with criteria and rates of return to sport after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction

Joffrey Drigny et al.

Summary: The study aimed to assess the relationship between knee extensor and flexor LSI values at 4 months post-ACLR and the recommended values at 8 months post-ACLR for RTP, as well as successful RTP after 2 years. Results indicated a significant association between LSI values at 4 months and 8 months post-operation, and successful RTP after 2 years.

Right Ventricular Global and Regional Remodeling in American-Style Football Athletes: A Longitudinal 3D Echocardiographic Study

Amir Hodzic et al.

Summary: This study investigated the right ventricular response to intensive training in American-style football athletes, finding that both global and regional volumes increased after inter-seasonal training. Morphological changes were evenly distributed among the four heart chambers, with larger remodeling observed in the apical and outlet regions. The findings suggest that the physiological adaptation in athletes involves biventricular enlargement, regardless of their field position.
