This study aims to provide a comprehensive review of vision-based UAV navigation techniques, categorize and extensively review existing techniques, compare them qualitatively, and discuss open issues and research challenges.

Energy-Efficient UAV Movement Control for Fair Communication Coverage: A Deep Reinforcement Learning Approach

An Adaptive Control Framework for the Autonomous Aerobatic Maneuvers of Fixed-Wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

Summary: This article proposes an adaptive flight framework that combines a discrete-time incremental nonlinear dynamic inversion controller and a neural network-based observer for maneuvering flight. The framework takes into consideration modeling uncertainties and exogenous perturbations and uses the observer to alleviate their effects. By utilizing the Lyapunov synthesis method, the updating rule of the neural network's weights is introduced to enhance tracking performance and guarantee system stability. Numerical verification of a 6-DOF fixed-wing fighter performing aggressive flight maneuvers demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. Extensive simulation results show that this versatile controller is more practical for aerobatic flights compared to other methods such as DSM and NDI.

Adaptive neural fault-tolerant control of a quadrotor UAV via fast terminal sliding mode

Summary: An adaptive fault-tolerant control method integrated with fast terminal sliding mode control technology and neural network is proposed for the attitude system of a quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicle. The neural network is used to approximate the uncertain terms in the system. Adaptive laws are developed to estimate the unknown fault coefficient and predict the unknown upper bound of the total disturbance. A fast terminal sliding mode control scheme is developed for the attitude system to improve the convergence rate. The effectiveness and superiority of the proposed control method are verified through contrast tests.
