This letter presents a wearable inductive resonant wireless link for joint flexion monitoring. It is demonstrated that the position of the elbow can be recognized from measurements of the transmission coefficient of the resonant inductive wireless link. The implementation proposed in this work is suitable for the development of a monitoring system that can be easily integrated into garments thus resulting unobtrusive to the user.
This letter presents a wearable inductive resonant wireless link for joint flexion monitoring. A system consisting of four small embroidered spiral coils is experimentally investigated. Data referring to the possibility of using the developed prototype for elbow flexion monitoring are presented and discussed. It is demonstrated that the position of the elbow can be recognized from measurements of the transmission coefficient of the resonant inductive wireless link. The implementation proposed in this work is suitable for the development of a monitoring system that can be easily integrated into garments thus resulting unobtrusive to the user.
