Summary: This study examines the perceptions of climate change and variability among smallholder farmers in the northeastern region of Burundi and identifies their adaptation methods. The majority of farmers perceive significant increases in temperature and unpredictability of rainfall and are implementing adaptation strategies such as changing crop varieties and fertilizers. Factors such as agricultural education and experience, farm and family size, livestock ownership, climate information access, credit access, and farm income strongly influence farmers' decisions to adapt to climate change. The study highlights the need to strengthen farmers' capacities and improve the policy framework for climate change adaptation.
