Effect of Multimodal Prehabilitation on Reducing Postoperative Complications and Enhancing Functional Capacity Following Colorectal Cancer Surgery The PREHAB Randomized Clinical Trial

Charlotte Johanna Laura Molenaar et al.

Summary: Colorectal surgery is associated with significant morbidity rates and decreased functional capacity. A multimodal prehabilitation program before colorectal cancer surgery can reduce postoperative complications and enhance functional recovery, as demonstrated by the PREHAB trial.

Preoperative exercise induces endothelial progenitor cell mobilisation in patients undergoing major surgery - A prospective randomised controlled clinical proof-of-concept trial

Claus Juergen Bauer et al.

Summary: The objective of this study was to test the feasibility of a four-week prehabilitation program of vigorous-intensity interval exercise training and its effects on physical capacity and the number of endothelial progenitor cells. The results of the study showed that the exercise program was feasible and led to improvements in patients' functional capacity as well as an increase in the number of endothelial progenitor cells.
