Geoenvironmental conditioning of landsliding in river valleys of lowland regions and its significance in landslide susceptibility assessment: A case study in the Lower Vistula Valley, Northern Poland

Dariusz Grabowski et al.

Summary: This paper attempts to analyze the landslide susceptibility of the Vistula River Valley in lowland Poland. Different methods were used to calculate the landslide susceptibility index, and the success rate and prediction rate curves were quantitatively evaluated. The study emphasizes the importance of topographic factors in landslide development in this area.

Landslide susceptibility mapping of Gdynia using geographic information system-based statistical models

Anna Malka

Summary: This study aimed to establish a reliable landslide susceptibility model for Gdynia, Poland by considering various factors such as geology, geomorphology, hydrology, hydrogeology, and anthropogenic influences. Through the use of geographic information systems, two techniques and three statistical methods were employed to generate susceptibility maps, with logistic regression showing the highest prediction accuracy. It was found that factors such as land use and cover, as well as topography, played significant roles in landslide formation.

Landslide failures detection and mapping using Synthetic Aperture Radar: Past, present and future

Alessandro Cesare Mondini et al.

Summary: Landslides are geomorphological processes with serious threats to people, property, and the environment on all continents. Investigators have shown increasing interest in using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery for landslide detection and mapping, but challenges remain to be faced for effective utilization.

Reducing Local Correlations Among Causal Factor Classifications as a Strategy to Improve Landslide Susceptibility Mapping

Ting Xiao et al.

Summary: The study focuses on investigating the local correlation of causal factors and its impact on landslide susceptibility in Wanzhou County. By conducting a local spatial correlation analysis of altitude and rivers factors, the researchers found a significant spatial overlap, resulting in enhanced accuracy of LSMs after reclassification and using the FR and RF models for evaluation. This research provides insights into the local correlation of causal factors and their influence on susceptibility assessment.
