Laser beam brazing of aluminum alloys in XHV-adequate atmosphere with surface deoxidation by ns-pulsed laser radiation

Summary: Laser beam brazing is a low heat input manufacturing process that is commonly used for materials with high oxygen affinity. This article introduces a method of removing surface oxides using laser radiation in an extreme high vacuum atmosphere, eliminating the need for chemical fluxes. By using a dopant gas, an oxygen content equivalent to an extreme high vacuum is achieved, preventing reoxidation and enabling wetting and diffusion processes. The effectiveness of this laser-based deoxidation method is evaluated using the wetting angle between filler material and material.

Cold Roll Bonding of Tin-Coated Steel Sheets with Subsequent Heat Treatment

Summary: In this study, a thin tin coating was used as an intermediate layer to strengthen the interface of cold roll bonded steel sheets. The results showed that the tin coating increased the bond area and directly participated in the joining process by establishing a reactive link between the two substrates. Subsequent heat treatment also affected the bond strength by the diffusion of tin at the interface.
