A Review of Time-Based Solar Photovoltaic Tracking Systems

Abdulwaheed Musa et al.

Summary: Solar energy is the cleanest and most abundant form of energy that can be obtained from the Sun. It can be converted into solar power by solar panels, which is used for various electrical purposes, especially in rural areas. To maximize solar power generation, an automatic solar tracking system is required as fixed solar panels can only achieve optimal positioning for a few hours.

A Fixed Zone Perturb and Observe MPPT Technique for a Standalone Distributed PV System

Niraja Swaminathan et al.

Summary: This article proposes a fixed zone perturb and observe (FZPO) technique for maximum power point tracking (MPPT) in photovoltaic (PV) systems, which achieves improved steady-state efficiency, fast tracking, and no drift. The technique divides the PV array's power-voltage curves into multiple zones and uses a combination of adaptive and fixed step sizes to enhance performance. It also achieves drift-free tracking without additional sampling or computation, making it suitable for implementation with low-cost processors.

Photovoltaic Energy Conversion Systems with Sliding Mode Control

Mehmetcan Gursoy et al.

Summary: A new sliding-mode-control-based power conversion scheme for photovoltaic energy conversion systems is proposed, incorporating novel first-and higher-order sliding mode control approaches to optimize power generation capabilities from solar panels. The system guarantees Lyapunov stability and consistent performance in the face of external perturbations and disturbances. Super-twisting second-order sliding mode control is developed to eliminate chattering phenomenon in the first-order approach, demonstrating robustness and effectiveness through computer simulations and dSPACE hardware-in-the-loop platform testing.

Solar Photovoltaic Investment Changes across China Regions Using a Spatial Shift-Share Analysis

Ruxu Sheng et al.

Summary: The research found that the changes in solar PV investment in China are influenced by the effects of national energy investment growth (NEG) and structure (NES), neighboring-nation solar PV investment competition (NNC), and region-neighbor solar PV investment competition (RNC). In eastern and central provinces, NNC and RNC play dominant roles, while NEG and NES have relatively small impacts; in western provinces, NEG and NES have a larger scale of influence. Comparing NNC and RNC, it was found that RNC played a prominent role in the eastern and central regions, while NNC played a dominant role in the west.
