This study successfully synthesized MgO nanoparticles using black rice extract, which exhibited rectangular and rice-grain architecture morphology. The nanoparticles showed antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, and anticancer activities, with no toxicity towards normal cells and red blood cells, suggesting their potential use as therapeutic drugs in biomedical and pharmaceutical sectors.
The bioactive molecules in greener material act as effective bio-reductants and surfactants to form the nanoparticles. This study, hence, focused to synthesize the MgO nanoparticles using grains extract of Oryza sativa L. indica (black rice). The synthesized nanoparticles were subjected to various analytical and biomedical analyses. High-resolution transmission electron microscopic (HRTEM) analysis exposed the rectangular and rice-grain architecture shaped morphology of nanoparticles with the average length and diameter in between 50-90 nm and 5-25 nm respectively. The antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-diabetic activities explicated the higher activity of 91.36, 89.92 and 90.43% in the concentration of 80 mu g/mL. The anticancer activity revealed the competent drug activity with 89.66% of toxicity towards cancer cells. The biocompatibility and hemolytic analyses showed no toxicity of nanoparticles towards normal cells and RBC's. The results of analyses suggest that the biosynthesized MgO nanoparticles can be used as therapeutic drugs in biomedical and pharmaceutical sectors.
