Molecular mechanisms of the chemical constituents from anti-inflammatory and antioxidant active fractions of Ganoderma neo-japonicum Imazeki

Rui-rui Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, 47 triterpenoids were identified in the crude extracts of Ganoderma neo-japonicum using UHPLC-Triple TOF-MS/MS. Fraction (c) showed the strongest bioactivity in terms of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. It was found that Fr. (c) reduced the levels of inflammatory cytokines and reactive oxygen species in macrophages, and this effect was mediated through the activation of the Nrf2/HO-1 pathway and inactivation of the NF-kappa B pathway. These findings suggest that Fr. (c) of G. neo-japonicum could be a potential functional food for health and longevity.

Roman Bleha et al.

Summary: This study focused on the isolation and structural characterization of polysaccharides from a basidiocarp of polypore fungus Ganoderma resinaceum. Different extraction methods were used to obtain polysaccharide fractions, and their purity, composition, and structure were characterized using various analysis techniques. The main polysaccharides identified were branched O-2-beta-d-mannosyl-(1 -> 6)-alpha-d-galactan and highly branched (1 -> 3)(1 -> 4)(1 -> 6)-beta-d-glucan in the cold water and hot water extracts, respectively.

Polysaccharide extracts from mycelia of Ganoderma australe: effect on dendritic cell immunomodulation and antioxidant activity

A. L. Gallo et al.

Summary: Ganoderma australe, a species of fungi, has inner-polysaccharides (IPS) that modulate immune response and have antioxidant activity. In this study, the effects of the IPS on dendritic cell activation and maturation, as well as its antioxidant activity, were assessed. The chemical composition of the IPS extracts varied, with glucose, mannose, and galactose being the predominant components. The IPS from mycelia growing in M1 significantly increased the expression levels of MHC II and CD86, while the IPS from mycelia growing in M2 showed significant antioxidant activity, possibly due to the presence of phenolic compounds. This study highlights the potential immunomodulatory and antioxidant effects of the aqueous extracts of mycelial polysaccharides from G. australe.
