Overview of the 2022 WHO Classification of Adrenal Cortical Tumors

Ozgur Mete et al.

Summary: The new WHO classification of adrenal cortical proliferations reflects translational advances in endocrine pathology, oncology, and molecular biology. It highlights the understanding of adrenal cortex pathologies through histological features, ancillary studies, and genetic findings, leading to advances in knowledge of these conditions. The classification redefines the spectrum of adrenal cortical nodular disease, emphasizing the importance of accurate assessment of tumor proliferation rate and diagnostic biomarkers in the workup of adrenal cortical neoplasms.

The role of adrenal venous sampling (AVS) in primary bilateral macronodular adrenocortical hyperplasia (PBMAH): a study of 16 patients

German Rubinstein et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the feasibility of using adrenal venous sampling for guidance of unilateral adrenalectomy in patients with marked adrenal asymmetry in PBMAH. The results showed limited gain of information through AVS in these patients.

Bilateral Adrenal Hyperplasia: Pathogenesis and Treatment

Benjamin Chevalier et al.

Summary: Bilateral adrenal hyperplasia is a rare cause of Cushing's syndrome and can be distinguished by the size of nodules. Identification of causal genes and genetic counseling are helpful for diagnosis, with current focus on unilateral adrenalectomy in treatment.

Update on primary bilateral macronodular adrenal hyperplasia (PBMAH)

Lucas Bouys et al.

Summary: PBMAH is a rare and heterogeneous disease characterized by bilateral benign adrenal macronodules, with some cases associated with genetic factors. Rigorous biochemical and imaging assessment is crucial in the management of this disease.
