Bayspeak: Narrating China's GreaterM Bay Area

Summary: China's Greater Bay Area initiative is an ambitious plan to regionalize the development process in the Pearl River Delta, using an innovation-intensive model to accelerate political-economic integration. The plan introduces a new spatial imaginary called "bayspeak" and a rescaled mode of governance. Despite its hyperbolic and aspirational nature, bayspeak may still prove to be significant as it represents a benign face of the Communist Party's line in this economically important region.
