Simulation of fragments mass distribution of 237Np, 241,243Am and 239,242,244pu isotopes in proton-induced fission

M. R. Pahlavani et al.

Summary: This study investigates the fission fragments mass distribution of Np-237, Am-241, Am-243, Pu-239, Pu-242, and Pu-244 isotopes in proton-induced fission at various energies. A semi-empirical formula with adjustable parameters is developed to simulate the mass distribution of fission fragments. The adjustable parameters are obtained through least square fitting of the simulated mass distribution to experimental data for a specific isotope at a given energy. The performance of the developed approach is compared with the Gorodisskiy method and experimental data, demonstrating good correspondence.

NEEDLESTICK AND SHARPS INJURIES AT A GERMAN UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL: EPIDEMIOLOGY, CAUSES AND PREVENTIVE POTENTIAL - A DESCRIPTIVE ANALYSIS

M. A. N. M. E. E. T. KAUR et al.

Summary: This study analyzed needlestick and sharps injuries (NSSI) and exposure to body fluids in a German hospital and found that despite efforts to reduce their number, such injuries still occur. The majority of injuries occurred in the operating theater and were attributed to stress and carelessness. The use of personal protective equipment, proper disposal of items, and timely replacement of sharps containers were identified as important preventive measures.

Assessment of the potential impacts of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster on maternal and fetal health in Hungary

Sarolta Szalai et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the effects of increased ionizing radiation emitted by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster on maternal and fetal outcomes in Hungary. Trends showed increasing rates of spontaneous and voluntary abortions, while there was a decreasing trend in late pregnancy losses during the study period. Ultimately, the data suggested that the nuclear catastrophe in 1986 did not lead to significant increases in pregnancy loss or congenital malformations in Hungary.

Nuclear and Radiological Emergencies: Biological Effects, Countermeasures and Biodosimetry

Elena Obrador et al.

Summary: Atomic and radiological crises can be caused by accidents, military activities, terrorist assaults, and the utilization of radiation exposure devices. Direct damage from radiation occurs through cellular interactions, while indirect effects result from reactive oxygen species generated by radiolysis of water molecules. Countermeasures for such crises should consider radiation type, affected individuals, dose range, and extent of exposure or contamination. Medical countermeasures, biodosimetry techniques, and response strategies are important in managing accidental radiation exposure.

Group Separation of Hexavalent Actinides from Lanthanides through Selective Extraction by Sterically Hindered 2-Ethylhexyl Phosphonic Acid Mono-2-ethylhexyl Ester

Xue Dong et al.

Summary: In this study, a strategy for the separation of actinides from lanthanides by oxidizing actinides to hexavalent oxidation states and selectively extracting them using a sterically hindered ligand, 2-ethylhexyl phosphonic acid mono-2-ethylhexyl ester (EHEHPA), was proposed. The results demonstrate the high efficiency of this method for the separation of actinides from lanthanides.

In Vivo Uranium Decorporation by a Tailor-Made Hexadentate Ligand

Bin Chen et al.

Summary: This study successfully achieved efficient isolation of uranyl through the meticulous design of a ligand. By coordinating with uranyl, the ligand demonstrated ultrahigh binding affinity and excellent efficiency in removing uranyl in experiments. This research sets a new record in uranyl decorporation efficacy.

Advances in the Application of Radionuclide-Labeled HER2 Affibody for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Ovarian Cancer

Xianwen Hu et al.

Summary: HER2 is highly expressed in epithelial ovarian cancer and can be used for diagnosis and treatment. Radionuclide-labeled HER2 affibody molecular probes have potential applications, but there are still issues with non-specific uptake and image background.

Radionuclide labeled gold nanoclusters boost effective anti-tumor immunity for augmented radio-immunotherapy of cancer

Pei Pei et al.

Summary: A novel approach using radionuclide labelled gold nanoclusters has been developed to enhance the therapeutic outcomes of internal radioisotope therapy and activate anticancer immunity. When combined with immune checkpoint inhibitors, it can effectively eliminate primary tumors and suppress the growth of distant tumors.
