This paper confirms the importance of land resources and market-oriented reforms for high-quality agricultural development through theoretical framework and empirical analysis. The study finds that the rational use of land resources and promotion of market-oriented reforms can contribute to the development of high-quality agriculture, but they also have spatial spillover effects.
Land resources and market-oriented reforms are crucial for high-quality agricultural development. This paper constructs a theoretical framework between land resources, market-oriented reforms and high-quality agricultural development by drawing on the relevant research results of new institutional economics; moreover, it empirically tests the impact of land resources and market-oriented reforms on high-quality agricultural development by using provincial panel data from China for the 2010-2020 period and utilizing the extended C-D function and spatial Durbin model. The results show that land resources and market-oriented reform can significantly and positively affect the level of high-quality agricultural development, while having significant negative spatial spillover effects on high-quality agricultural development. Therefore, this paper puts forward policy recommendations to promote high-quality agricultural development in terms of the rational use of land resources, promotion of agricultural market-oriented reforms, strengthening cooperation and exchanges among regions and developing agriculture according to local conditions.
