Summary: This study identified 76 RCTs, with findings suggesting that behavioral activation may be beneficial and that relaxation may be harmful for treating depression. Baseline severity emerged as the strongest prognostic factor for endpoint depression, and combining human and automated encouragement reduced dropouts from treatment. Bias risk was low for randomization and missing outcome data, uncertain for deviation from intended interventions, and high for outcome measurement.
