Summary: The study aimed to determine the prevalence of superior mesenteric artery (SMA) syndrome in young patients presenting with abdominal pains, and to evaluate CT findings needed for diagnosis. The findings show that SMA syndrome is not uncommon, characterized by reduced aortomesenteric angle and distance, and can be diagnosed through imaging.

Wilkie's Syndrome: An Unexpected Finding

Superior mesenteric artery syndrome: A review of the literature

Summary: SMA syndrome, a rare condition associated with decreased intraabdominal fat, can result in serious complications such as gastric rupture if diagnosis and treatment are delayed. This case report highlights the importance of considering SMA syndrome in patients with recent intentional weight loss and acute gastrointestinal symptoms. Additionally, the possible association between SMA syndrome and Nutcracker syndrome is discussed.
