Luminescence in Er3+ co-doped bismuth germinate glass-ceramics for blue and green emitting applications

Summary: Glass samples with the composition 40 Bi2O3-60 GeO2-x Er2O3 were synthesized and characterized using various techniques. The crystallization behavior and kinetics were investigated, and the optical properties of Er3+ ions were analyzed. The formation of Bi4Ge3O12 phase was confirmed after heat treatment, and the resulting glass and glass ceramics showed potential for green and blue optoelectronics applications.
