Do Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs Have a Deleterious Effect on Cartilage Repair? A Systematic Review

Gergo Merkely et al.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed the evidence on the potential harmful effects of NSAIDs on chondrocytes and graft incorporation after cartilage repair procedures. The results showed that NSAIDs may interfere with chondrocyte differentiation and graft incorporation, suggesting that their use should be avoided post-cartilage repair unless there is a significant clinical benefit for the patient. More human studies are needed to further analyze the impact of NSAIDs on cartilage repair.
