Summary: Measuring gender inequality in land ownership is crucial for assessing progress in women's economic empowerment and monitoring gender equality. Multiple measures are needed to effectively assess inter-gender gaps in land ownership and intra-gender differences. Despite advancements in inheritance laws, women in rural areas still constitute a small percentage of landowners, with widows being more likely to inherit land than daughters.
