The Operations Triad Model and Youth Mental Health Assessments: Catalyzing a Paradigm Shift in Measurement Validation

Andres De Los Reyes et al.

Summary: Researchers use reports from multiple informants to assess youth mental health, but there are often discrepancies between these reports. These discrepancies should be treated as important information for understanding youth mental health, but historically they have been treated as measurement confounds or biases. We propose a new paradigm, CONTEXT, to optimize measurement validity in youth mental health research.

Testing Measurement Invariance Across Unobserved Groups: The Role of Covariates in Factor Mixture Modeling

Yan Wang et al.

Summary: Factor mixture modeling is increasingly used for exploring unobserved population heterogeneity. This study investigated the impact of excluding and misspecifying covariate effects in measurement invariance testing through Monte Carlo simulations, emphasizing the importance of including proper covariates and utilizing model comparison approach for identifying correct specification of covariate effects. The findings were demonstrated using an empirical dataset, discussing implications for methodological and applied research.

Profiles of Rater Dis/Agreement within Universal Screening in Predicting Distal Outcomes

Nathaniel von der Embse et al.

Summary: The success of a comprehensive and integrated school mental health system depends on data-informed decision-making, with universal screening being a method to inform treatment at various levels. This study identified four rater agreement profiles that significantly predicted academic outcomes, emphasizing the importance of considering multiple informants for school mental health systems in research and practice.
