The affecting tourism development attitudes based on the social exchange theory and the social network theory

Kai Chih Chang

Summary: Previous studies on tourism development attitudes have primarily utilized Social Exchange Theory (SET) but have not been able to account for the impact of social relationship structures. In contrast, the current research integrates Social Network Theory (SNT) to investigate the influencing factors on tourism development attitudes. The study, analyzing 222 valid questionnaires using a network contagion model, found that social networks (in terms of intelligence, friendship, and advice) have varying influences on the cognition, affection, and action tendency components of tourism development attitudes. The findings contribute to a more theoretical understanding and provide policy implications for tourism development.
