Tourism Demand Interval Forecasting Amid COVID-19: A Hybrid Model With a Modified Multi-Objective Optimization Algorithm

Jianzhou Wang et al.

Summary: A hybrid tourism demand interval forecasting system is proposed, which includes the construction of forecasting interval based on lower and upper bound estimates, and the adjustment of forecasting interval based on an optimized reduction coefficient. Coronavirus factors are included as input variables to enhance forecasting performance. A new multi-objective optimization algorithm is developed for feature selection, model optimization, and estimating the optimal reduction coefficient. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system has a strong ability in interval forecasting, providing crucial guidance for balancing tourism industry recovery and COVID-19 epidemic control, as well as contributing to contingency planning for tourism practitioners and managers.

A novel interval decomposition ensemble model for interval carbon price forecasting

Feng Gao et al.

Summary: Accurate carbon price forecasting is crucial for policy-makers and market participants. Previous studies have focused solely on point-valued forecasting, neglecting the importance of interval carbon price forecasting. This study proposes a novel interval decomposition ensemble model based on MVMD and iMLP optimized by Jaya algorithm to accurately predict interval carbon price. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model outperforms benchmark models, with average values of U-I and ARVI of 0.3003 and 0.0569, respectively, in two datasets. Overall, the proposed model serves as an effective tool for future interval carbon price forecasting.
