Applying an extended theory of planned behavior to predict willingness to pay for green and low-carbon energy transition

Exit, voice, loyalty, and neglect framework of residents' responses to urban neighborhood regeneration: The case of Shanghai, China

Summary: Neighborhood regeneration (NR) improves urban areas by rehabilitating or renovating dilapidated neighborhoods. In China, NR is mostly dependent on governmental planning and funding, but promoting resident-initiated NR projects is crucial for citizen well-being and sustainability. However, there have been few studies on residents' choices in NR. This research investigates how elements like perceived impact of NR, social capital, neighborhood environment, and residents' dependency can influence responses through the EVLN framework. Two neighborhoods in Shanghai were studied using a questionnaire survey and analysis techniques. The results show that these elements have an impact on residents' responses, with high dependency, high social capital, and strong NR impact leading to voice response, low dependency and poor neighborhood quality leading to exit response, and perceived good living environment, low social capital, and ignorance of NR impact leading to loyalty/neglect response. Policy implications are drawn to promote active resident-initiated NR projects in dilapidated neighborhoods.

What attracts young talents? Understanding the migration intention of university students to first-tier cities in China

Summary: In recent years, China's first-tier cities have been losing their appeal to young talents due to soaring housing prices and high living costs, causing intense competition among cities for talents. This paper adopts the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to explore the factors influencing university students' intention to develop in first-tier cities after graduation. The results show that attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control are the key factors influencing migration intentions. Beliefs such as future dreams, better job opportunities, and higher wages shape positive attitudes, while support from family, friends, teachers, and classmates contributes to positive subjective norms. Negative perceptions of high housing prices, high living costs, and family ties discourage students from developing in first-tier cities. Additionally, gender, family structure, university location, and university ranking also influence migration intention through the TPB constructs.

Residents' behavioral intention to participate in neighborhood micro-renewal based on an extended theory of planned behavior: A case study in Shanghai, China

Unraveling the determinants for private renting in metropolitan China: An application of the Theory of Planned Behavior
