Green innovation, privacy regulation and environmental policy

Weihua Pan et al.

Summary: This study examines the relationship between privacy regulation and environmental policy in a Hotelling duopoly where firms invest in green innovation for emissions reduction. The findings suggest that governments should set emission taxes in accordance with privacy regulations. Strong privacy protections require higher taxes compared to no privacy protections. In the case of poor privacy regulation, the optimal emission tax is highest for achieving emissions reductions. Additionally, there is an economic trade-off between industry profits and E-R&D investment, where weak privacy regulation leads to higher E-R&D efforts and less harm to the environment but lower industry profits due to heavy tax burdens. Policymakers are recommended to combine reasonable emission tax policies with green finance, adopt weaker privacy regulations for green finance and renewable energy projects, and promote uniform pricing for renewable energy products from a competition policy perspective.

Does green finance development goals affects renewable energy in China

ChangZheng Li et al.

Summary: This study utilizes panel cointegration and causality modeling to analyze the factors leading to the growth of renewable energy in China from 2005 to 2020. The findings demonstrate the value of green finance development and private sector participation in the increase of renewable energy sources. For every 1% increase in renewable energy, trademark registrations will increase by 0.487% and financial development filings by 0.144%. When private sector participation is enhanced by 0.032%, trademarks and patents increase by 0.057%. Investment, trade, and human development moderate these relationships. The empirical evidence of this study provides helpful knowledge for policymakers and environmentalists in creating and implementing long-term financially advantageous environmental projects.

Information and communication technologies development and the resource curse

Lei Chang et al.

Summary: Information and communication technologies (ICTs) development in China has a positive impact on economic growth, but innovation in natural resource development and energy demands is often overlooked. However, the analysis of time-series data from 30 Chinese provinces confirms that the development of ICT somewhat alleviates the resource curse, especially in regions with abundant natural resources. The increased energy demands and CO2 emissions due to computing, telephone, cellular connections, and technological collaboration incentives need to be addressed through technologically driven natural resource expansion to develop sustainable strategies in the long term.

Assessing oil price volatility co-movement with stock market volatility through quantile regression approach

Fang Liu et al.

Summary: Gold and crude oil are the two commodities that have the most influence on global stock markets and the real economy during financial crises and the COVID-19 era. However, there is limited research on the overall impact of the volatility of these commodities' prices. This study evaluates the effects of crude oil price volatility on stock market returns in different sectors of several countries between 2000 and 2020 using Quantile-on-Quantile regression and dynamic copula with Markov-Switching.

Research on the Coupling between the Double Cycle Mode and Technological Innovation Systems: Empirical Evidence from Data Envelopment Analysis and Coupled Coordination

Shuang Lv et al.

Summary: This study constructs a coupled dual-circulation-STI relationship model and assesses the coupling degree and natural state of science and technology innovation in each industry. The findings show that China's dual-circulation pattern has gradually strengthened, driven by the financial element, and the quality of science and technology innovation has been increasing year on year. However, the coupling power of the dual-circulation STI weakened in some years due to the twists and turns of the external environment. Therefore, it is recommended that developing countries like China continue to increase financial investment to create a healthy and sustainable innovation model and use the innovation-dual-circulation development model to lead social progress.
