Cristina Neesham et al.

Summary: Although sustainable business model (SBM) research has struggled with defining the concept of value, this study argues for the development of methodological guidelines for a field-specific approach. Using Aristotelian logic and philosophical phenomenology, an analytical framework is proposed to generate good definitions of value. The framework is used to explore approaches to value, highlight problematic patterns, and provide guidance for defining value consistently in SBM research.
