Circ_0120175 promotes laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma development through up-regulating SLC7A11 by sponging miR-330-3p

Daqing Fan et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the role and mechanism of circular RNA 0120175 (circ_0120175) in the development of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC). The study found that circ_0120175 abundance was increased in LSCC and was associated with advanced tumor staging, lymph node metastasis, and poor prognosis. Circ_0120175 acted as a sponge for miR-330-3p and increased the expression of SLC7A11, promoting cell proliferation, migration, and invasion while inhibiting apoptosis in LSCC cells.

Hsa-miR-143-3p inhibits Wnt-β-catenin and MAPK signaling in human corneal epithelial stem cells

Lavanya Kalaimani et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the regulatory role of hsa-miR-143-3p in corneal epithelial stem cells (CESCs). The researchers found that high expression of hsa-miR-143-3p increased colony forming potential and inhibited the expression of differentiation marker Cx43. Additionally, hsa-miR-143-3p was found to downregulate target genes involved in the Wnt-beta-catenin and MAPK signaling pathways, indicating its importance in maintaining the stemness of CESCs.

CircMTO1: A circular RNA with roles in the carcinogenesis

Soudeh Ghafouri-Fard et al.

Summary: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are characterized by a closed loop structure that provides them with high stability. They are produced through back splicing and are abundant in the human transcriptome. CircMTO1, a circRNA, has been shown to be down-regulated in various cancers but up-regulated in cervical and gallbladder cancers. It can sequester multiple miRNAs and regulate several signaling pathways.

The circular RNA circSlc7a11 promotes bone cancer pain pathogenesis in rats by modulating LLC-WRC 256 cell proliferation and apoptosis

Han-Wen Chen et al.

Summary: This study identified that the circRNA circSlc7a11 regulates the development of rat BCP by influencing cell proliferation and apoptosis through multiple signaling mechanisms. Overexpression of circSlc7a11 promoted cell proliferation, while silencing it had the opposite effects on LLC-WRC 256 and UMR-106 cells. The changes in circSlc7a11 expression also led to substantial alterations in mRNA expression profiles of LLC-WRC 256 cells, linked to various apoptotic processes and signaling pathways.
