Venous overload choroidopathy: A hypothetical framework for central serous chorioretinopathy and allied disorders

Richard F. Spaide et al.

Summary: Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) is characterized by fluid leakage at the level of the retinal pigment epithelium, leading to macular detachment. Recent evaluations have shown that eyes with CSC have similar choroidal vascular abnormalities as eyes following occlusion of the vortex veins or carotid cavernous sinus fistulas. Abnormal venous outflow from the choroid appears to be a key factor in the pathophysiology of CSC.

CILIOCHOROIDAL EFFUSION IN CENTRAL SEROUS CHORIORETINOPATHY

Nobuhiro Terao et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of ciliochoroidal effusion (CE) in central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) and its association with the clinical features of CSC. The results showed that CE occurred more frequently in CSC patients compared to normal control subjects, and the CE group had thicker sclera than the non-CE group.

Clinical Factors Related to Loculation of Fluid in Central Serous Chorioretinopathy

N. A. O. Y. A. Imanaga et al.

Summary: This retrospective, cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the clinical factors related to the presence of loculation of fluid (LOF) in central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC). The study found that a thicker choroid and thicker sclera were associated with the presence of LOF in CSC. Age, sex, subfoveal choroidal thickness (SCT), and scleral thickness were also found to be related to LOF.

Incidence of central serous chorioretinopathy (2011-2018): a nationwide population-based cohort study of Japan

Ai Kido et al.

Summary: This study aimed to clarify the epidemiological background of central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) using a nationwide health insurance claims database in Japan. Over an 8-year period, CSC was found to have a higher incidence rate in men, and most newly diagnosed patients did not receive major treatment. The results provide important population-based evidence for understanding the pathogenesis and mechanisms of CSC.

Widefield Choroidal Thickness of Eyes with Central Serous Chorioretinopathy Examined by Swept-Source OCT

Masaharu Ishikura et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to analyze the widefield changes in choroidal thickness of eyes with central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) using enhanced depth imaging. The results revealed significantly greater choroidal thickness in all subfields of eyes with CSC compared to normal eyes. The affected vortex vein and systemic risk factors may play a role in the pathogenesis of CSC.

Effectiveness of Reduced-fluence Photodynamic Therapy for Chronic Central Serous Chorioretinopathy A Propensity Score Analysis

Nao Aisu et al.

Summary: The study investigated the 2-year effectiveness of reduced-fluence photodynamic therapy (rf-PDT) for chronic central serous chorioretinopathy (cCSC). The results suggest that rf-PDT has beneficial effects on both visual acuity maintenance and complete serous retinal detachment remission in the clinical setting.

Summary: The study found that parafoveal vessel diameter indexes (VDIs) were significantly associated with parafoveal thickening, future foveal thickening, and the total required number of ranibizumab injections in patients with branch retinal vein occlusion.
