Wafer-scale epitaxial modulation of quantum dot density

N. Bart et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the control of nucleation and density modulation of self-assembled quantum dots using conventional molecular beam epitaxy. The method allows for wafer-scale density modulation with tunable periodicity, resulting in high-quality quantum dot structures. The technique is universal and applicable to a wide range of semiconductor material systems, enabling the growth of ultra-low noise quantum dots across an entire wafer.

Resonant absorption for multilayer quantum well and quantum dot solar cells

Maxime Giteau et al.

Summary: This study develops a theoretical framework to evaluate and optimize resonant light absorption in a thin slab with multiple quantum layers. Numerical simulations and experimental measurements confirm that the position of the layers strongly influences absorption, with an optimal position leading to a resonant absorption enhancement twice as large as the average.
