Are Pedagogical Beliefs an Internal Barrier for Technology Integration? The Interdependent Nature of Teacher Beliefs

Sheng-Lun Cheng et al.

Summary: This study examines the relationship between pre-service teachers' competence beliefs, value beliefs, pedagogical beliefs, and their intention to integrate technology. The results show that there is an interaction between competence and pedagogical beliefs. The relationship between pedagogical beliefs and teachers' intention to integrate technology is only significant when competence beliefs are low. These findings suggest that teacher beliefs are interdependent and pedagogical beliefs are not necessarily a barrier for technology integration as long as competence beliefs are high.
