RPS14 promotes the development and progression of glioma via p53 signaling pathway

Shangwei Hu et al.

Summary: RPS14 is found to be overexpressed in glioma, and its depletion can significantly suppress glioma cell proliferation and migration while promoting apoptosis. The effects of RPS14 knockdown on glioma may be closely associated with the p53 signaling pathway, and attenuation of these effects can be achieved by inhibiting the p53 pathway. Therefore, RPS14 may serve as a potential therapeutic target for gliomas.

PLAU is associated with cell migration and invasion and is regulated by transcription factor YY1 in cervical cancer

Yanjun Gao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the role and transcriptional regulation of PLAU in cervical cancer, finding that PLAU was overexpressed in cervical cancer and its suppression significantly inhibited cell migration and invasion. Additionally, YY1 was identified as a regulator of PLAU mRNA expression. These findings suggest the YY1/PLAU axis as a potential therapeutic target for cervical cancer.

Antitumor effect of luteolin proven by patient-derived organoids of gastric cancer

Xinyu Hao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the antitumor activity of Lut in gastric cancer patient-derived organoids (PDOs). The results showed that Lut had stronger antitumor effects compared to other clinical drugs, and it exhibited varying degrees of antitumor effects against different gastric cancer PDOs. This suggests that PDOs may be a useful tool for personalized treatment prediction.

Prognostic Significance and Gene Co-Expression Network of PLAU and PLAUR in Gliomas

Junhong Li et al.

Summary: High expression of PLAU and PLAUR is associated with poor prognosis in glioma patients, especially in lower grade gliomas. PLAU and PLAUR affect the generation and progression of glioma by participating in inflammatory activities and tumor-related signaling pathways.

Cell cycle regulation: p53-p21-RB signaling

Kurt Engeland

Summary: RB and p53 are central tumor suppressors that play key roles in regulating the cell division cycle. RB downregulates numerous genes by forming complexes with E2F transcription factors, and its repression is released through phosphorylation. p53 activates CDKN1A gene to regulate RB phosphorylation, leading to expression of cell cycle regulators. There is an overlap between RB and DREAM signaling pathways.

Downregulation of Astrocyte Elevated Gene-1 Expression Combined with All-Trans Retinoic Acid Inhibits Development of Vasculogenic Mimicry and Angiogenesis in Glioma

Chen Liang et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that a combinatorial approach of downregulating AEG-1 expression and ATRA intervention effectively inhibited glioma cell proliferation and vasculogenic mimicry formation, leading to decreased tumor growth. The expression levels of MMP-2, MMP-9, VE-cadherin, and VEGF were also significantly reduced. These findings suggest that targeting these genes could be a potential therapeutic strategy for glioma.

Quercetin Suppresses Human Glioblastoma Migration and Invasion via GSK3β/β-catenin/ZEB1 Signaling Pathway

Bo Chen et al.

Summary: Quercetin significantly inhibits the viability, migration, and invasion ability of glioblastoma cells both in vitro and in vivo. This is achieved by suppressing the GSK-3 beta/beta-catenin/ZEB1 signaling pathway and reversing the EMT-like mesenchymal phenotype.

Mechanisms and Regulation of Cellular Senescence

Laureline Roger et al.

Summary: Cellular senescence is an essentially irreversible proliferative arrest state where cells release pro-inflammatory and proteolytic factors. Different types of senescent cells accumulate in various tissues and organs with unique functions. Understanding how cells undergo extensive changes to induce a common cellular state is crucial for cancer prevention and improving health during aging.

Regulation of Cell Cycle Progression by Growth Factor-Induced Cell Signaling

Zhixiang Wang

Summary: The cell cycle is a series of events driving cell division and production of two new daughter cells, involving phases G1, S, G2, and M. Progression is mediated by Cdks and their cyclin subunits, but growth factor signaling pathways are the driving force. Role of growth factor signaling in phases other than G1 is still poorly understood, with research focusing on regulation of cell cycle progression through different phases.

TROAP regulates cell cycle and promotes tumor progression through Wnt/β-Catenin signaling pathway in glioma cells

Zong-qing Zhao et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that TROAP plays an oncogenic role in glioma by activating the Wnt/beta-Catenin signaling pathway, leading to cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and poor prognosis. Inhibition of TROAP or downstream targets of Wnt/beta-Catenin pathway could reverse the tumor-promoting effects, suggesting TROAP as a potential novel target for glioma therapy.
