Event-triggered H∞ control for switched interval type-2 fuzzy systems under denial-of-service

Hanqing Qu et al.

Summary: This article focuses on the H-infinity control problem for event-triggered switched interval type-2 (IT2) fuzzy systems under denial-of-service (DoS) attacks. An acknowledgment (ACK) mechanism is introduced to detect and zero the input signal being attacked, and an event-triggering scheme resilient to DoS is presented to reduce network bandwidth pressure. Additionally, a sampled-based switching law is designed to ensure stability and exclude Zeno behavior.

Design Optimization of Improved Fractional-Order Cascaded Frequency Controllers for Electric Vehicles and Electrical Power Grids Utilizing Renewable Energy Sources

Fayez F. M. El-Sousy et al.

Summary: The paper introduces an improved fractional-order frequency controller that optimizes the use of renewable energy sources and electric vehicle batteries in electrical power grids. The controller has superior performance characteristics, including faster response time, minimized overshoot/undershoot peaks, ability to mitigate high- and low-frequency disturbances, and coordination of electric vehicle participation in frequency regulation. The controller parameters are determined using the manta ray foraging optimization (MRFO) algorithm. Performance comparisons with existing PID, FOPID, and PD/FOPID controllers demonstrate the improved response and disturbance mitigation of the proposed controller.

A New Intelligent Fractional-Order Load Frequency Control for Interconnected Modern Power Systems with Virtual Inertia Control

Sherif A. Zaid et al.

Summary: Load frequency control (LFC) plays a crucial role in ensuring the frequency stability of modern power systems, which are vulnerable to undesirable oscillations caused by uncertainties in renewable energy sources and loads. However, existing LFC techniques may not be sufficient to address the low-inertia issue caused by high-penetration renewable energy integration. This study proposes an optimized intelligent fractional-order integral (iFOI) controller designed using the gray wolf optimization (GWO) algorithm for the LFC of a two-area interconnected power system with virtual inertia control (VIC), demonstrating its effectiveness and resilience compared to other control techniques.

Fractional Transformation-Based Intelligent H-Infinity Controller of a Direct Current Servo Motor

Muhammad Zia Ur Rahman et al.

Summary: DC servo motors are crucial in various complex systems, but they often face nonlinearity and parameter variation issues. This article proposes an intelligent robust linear controller based on a fixed-structure linear fractional transformation for precise angular position tracking of DC servo motors. Compared to traditional H-infinity controllers, the proposed method has a fixed and simple structure, making it more practical. Simulation results are compared with conventional H-infinity and proportional-integral-derivative controllers, and experimental validation is also conducted.

Fractional-Order PID Controller Based on Immune Feedback Mechanism for Time-Delay Systems

Adel Makhbouche et al.

Summary: This article presents a novel controller structure combining computational intelligence (CI) and fractional-order control for controlling processes with time delays. A fractional-order PID (FOPID) controller based on a bio-inspired immune feedback mechanism (IFM) is developed for controlling first-order plus time-delay systems (FOPTD). Genetic algorithm (GA) is used to optimize the controller parameters. Numerical simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy in terms of reference tracking and disturbance rejection, and the efficiency of the proposed fractional-order method compared to an immune integer-order PID controller.
