Wear study on flexible brush-type soil removal component for removing soil used to protect grapevines against cold

Shuai Ma et al.

Summary: In this study, a combined method of EDEM-Recurdyn coupling simulation and soil tank wear experiment was used to investigate the interaction and wear between flexible materials and soil in the soil removal operation. The results showed that the wear mechanism of the flexible brush-type soil removal component was impact wear and abrasive wear, with impact wear having a greater effect. The wear resistance of different flexible materials at different rotational speeds was also studied, and clamped wire rubber showed the best wear resistance. The optimized flexible disc brush-rubber combined soil removal component can prolong lifespan and improve operational quality.

Influence of different ultra-soft toothbrushes on erosive tooth wear

Talita Portela Pereira et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the influence of different ultra-soft toothbrushes on the progression of erosive tooth wear (ETW). The results showed that flexible handle toothbrushes had a greater effect on enamel erosion, while round-end bristles (ultra-soft and soft) had a greater impact on dentin erosion.

Application of the ellipse of elasticity theory to the functional analysis of planar compliant mechanisms

O. Sorgona et al.

Summary: In the last decades, various methods have been proposed for the analysis of compliant mechanisms. This investigation applies the theory of the ellipse of elasticity to the linear kinetostatic analysis of flexible systems. The proposed approach utilizes the antiprojective polarity transformations of the conic associated with the generic two-port elastic suspension. The method allows for representing the elastostatic features of flexible elements with complex geometries and compliant mechanisms with different topologies by a unique geometric entity.

Dynamic modeling and analysis of satellite detumbling using a brush type contactor based on flexible multibody dynamics

Ziqi Ma et al.

Summary: A brush type contactor has been proposed for detumbling non-cooperative space targets, with a dynamic model established using both analytical formulation and numerical methods. It was found that detumbling efficiency can be significantly affected by various factors, and a criterion for brush detachment from the solar panel was proposed and verified through numerical simulations.

Interplay between different manual toothbrushes and brushing loads on erosive tooth wear

Cintia de Melo Silva Souza et al.

Summary: The study found that different types of manual toothbrushes and brushing loads have an impact on the progression of erosive tooth wear (ETW) on enamel. The force of brushing can modulate the ETW of enamel, and certain toothbrushes may be more effective in minimizing enamel loss depending on the brushing load applied. Overall, toothbrush characteristics were not significantly correlated with enamel surface loss in ETW.
