Hierarchical Recovery of Missing Air Pollution Data via Improved Long-Short Term Context Encoder Network

Yangwen Yu et al.

Summary: Due to equipment and transmission failures, data loss is a major challenge in air quality monitoring. This paper proposes a Long-short term context encoder (ILSCE) model, utilizing adaptive updating convolutional neural networks (CNNs), to recover missing air quality data from a database. The model can capture temporal-spatial correlations and periodic variations in the air quality dataset and update the data and masks in every layer of CNN. The experimental study shows that the ILSCE model outperforms existing imputation methods in air pollution data recovery, especially in cases of severe data loss.

Spatiotemporal Graph Convolutional Network for Multi-Scale Traffic Forecasting

Yi Wang et al.

Summary: Benefiting from the rapid development of geospatial big data-related technologies, intelligent transportation systems (ITS) have become a part of people's daily life. Researchers proposed a novel model called Temporal Residual II Graph Convolutional Network (Tres2GCN) to capture multi-scale spatiotemporal and fine-grained features in traffic volume forecasting. The model incorporates node embedding parameter, hierarchical temporal attention layer, and hierarchical adaptive graph convolution layer to address the limitations in existing works.

A Bayesian LSTM model to evaluate the effects of air pollution control regulations in Beijing, China

Yang Han et al.

Summary: Rapid socio-economic development and urbanization have led to serious air-quality issues in many cities, including Beijing. The study analyzed the effectiveness of air pollution control regulations in Beijing from 2008-2019, showing a gradual improvement in air quality after 2013. The results suggest that the combination of local and national policies, along with measures targeting vested interests, can help reduce pollution levels over the long term.
