The Use of Stress Cardiovascular Imaging in Pediatric Population

Sara Moscatelli et al.

Summary: Although rare in pediatric patients, ischemia can occur due to congenital and acquired diseases. Stress imaging is a non-invasive method for evaluating myocardial abnormalities and perfusion defects in children. It can also provide additional diagnostic and prognostic information for valvular heart disease and cardiomyopathies. Despite the lack of specific guidelines and limited data, stress imaging is increasingly used and has advantages and limitations in pediatric patients.

Summary: This study compared the accuracy of IQ-SPECT and conventional SPECT with CMR in assessing LVEF in patients with small hearts. The results showed that IQ-SPECT provided more reliable LVEF measurements compared to conventional SPECT, especially for patients with small hearts.

The Role of Multimodality Imaging in Pediatric Cardiomyopathies

Sara Moscatelli et al.

Summary: Cardiomyopathies are the leading cause of heart transplantation in children. Diagnosing and classifying these diseases can be challenging, especially in pediatric patients. Cardiovascular imaging, particularly echocardiography, plays a crucial role in the diagnostic pathway. However, complementary imaging modalities such as cardiovascular magnetic resonance may be necessary for differentiating between similar phenotypes. Nuclear imaging and computed tomography also have advantages but are less commonly used in pediatric patients due to radiation concerns.

The complementary nature of multimodal imaging in the management of an anomalous aortic origin of the right coronary artery from the left coronary cusp

Lalitha C. Medepalli et al.

Summary: Anomalous aortic origins of coronary arteries (AAOCA) are congenital anomalies with diverse clinical manifestations, ranging from asymptomatic incidental findings to sudden cardiac death. This case study utilized complementary multimodality imaging techniques, including fractional flow reserve (FFRCT), to achieve a comprehensive functional and anatomic assessment, resulting in appropriate surgical therapy and a favorable clinical outcome.

Diagnostic value of [18F]FDG-PET/CT for treatment monitoring in large vessel vasculitis: a systematic review and meta-analysis

K. S. M. van der Geest et al.

Summary: Monitoring disease activity in patients with large vessel vasculitis (LVV) using [18F]FDG-PET/CT shows potential value, but is affected by significant heterogeneity. Arterial [18F]FDG uptake correlates with clinical remission, but the accuracy for detecting active LVV remains limited.

Summary: This case report highlights the management of right anomalous coronary artery with an interarterial course in a middle-aged adult presenting with suspected angina. Hybrid cardiac imaging-guided conservative management, including exercise restriction, appears justifiable in the absence of ischemia in stress-induced tests.
