Choroidal modifications assessed by means of choroidal vascularity index after oral eplerenone treatment in chronic central serous chorioretinopathy

Lisa Toto et al.

Summary: This study investigated the changes in choroidal vascularity index (CVI) after oral eplerenone treatment in patients with chronic central serous chorioretinopathy (cCSC). The results showed that CVI decreased during follow-up in both eyes with subretinal fluid (SRF) and fellow eyes, indicating the effectiveness of mineral corticoid receptor antagonists in restoring choroidal morphology.

Summary: Continuous oral EPL treatment resulted in long-term morpho-functional improvement in cCSC pachychoroid eyes. The eyes showed improved visual acuity and reduced structural OCT parameters. Non-exudative fellow eyes also showed structural and functional improvement after treatment.

Photoreceptor outer segment layer contributes to optical coherence tomography signal attenuation beneath neurosensory detachments

Dmitrii S. Maltsev et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the factors responsible for attenuation of the OCT signal beneath the neurosensory detachment. The results showed that the thickness of the photoreceptor outer segment (PROS) layer was the most significant factor affecting the signal.

Topographical Analysis of the Choriocapillaris Reperfusion After Loading Anti-VEGF Therapy in Neovascular AMD

Pasquale Viggiano et al.

Summary: This study used optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) to evaluate changes in choriocapillaris vascular density around macular neovascularization (MNV) before and after anti-vascular endothelium growth factor (VEGF) injections. The results showed gradual recovery of choriocapillaris flow after treatment, indicating the potential of OCTA in assessing the development and response to anti-VEGF therapy.

Analysis of choriocapillaris perfusion and choroidal layer changes in patients with chronic central serous chorioretinopathy randomised to micropulse laser or photodynamic therapy

Mary Ho et al.

Summary: This study investigated signal changes in choriocapillaris flow deficits and choroidal thickness changes following different treatments. Patients in the PDT group showed smaller flow deficit areas and significant reductions in choroidal thickness, indicating a stronger effect of PDT in promoting choriocapillaris recovery compared to MLT.

Choriocapillaris Island: an optical coherence tomography angiography finding observed in central serous chorioretinopathy

Rania G. Estawro et al.

Summary: This study reports the observation of choriocapillaris island (CCI) on optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) in eyes with active central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR), suggesting that CCI may represent the focal area of choriocapillaris structural and functional affection, with secondary retinal pigment epithelium alterations compromising its barrier function. Larger longitudinal studies are required to further clarify this finding.
