Coordinated flight path planning for a fleet of missiles in high-risk areas

Luitpold Babel

Summary: This paper solves the flight path planning problem for multiple missiles engaging stationary targets in high-risk areas. It introduces the concept of a swarm attack where a fleet of missiles overwhelms air defence. Algorithms for offline planning and online re-planning of flight paths are presented. The offline planning uses a global optimization approach and the online planning maintains a safety distance between the missiles to prevent collision.

The Impact of Airspace Discretization on the Energy Consumption of Autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (Drones)

Mo ElSayed et al.

Summary: This study assesses the impact of airspace planning and discretization on the energy consumption of autonomous UAVs. Results show a variation in energy consumption by up to 50%, highlighting the importance of airspace management for UAV charging infrastructure design and greenhouse gas emissions reduction.

Autonomous planning of optimal four-dimensional trajectory for real-time en-route airspace operation with solution space visualisation

Yutong Chen et al.

Summary: This study proposes a novel operational framework for four-dimensional trajectory conflict management in free route airspace, aiming to achieve autonomous operation. Through airspace discretisation and a two-stage real-time trajectory planning method, considering restricted areas and stakeholder performance preferences, it successfully addresses the challenges in air traffic management.

Using social media for flight path safety assessment

Ahmad Ali Abin et al.

Summary: This study investigates flight path safety assessment from a social media and crowdsourcing perspective by proposing an AI-based framework to avoid aviation hazards and estimating the probability of a shooting of an airplane by air defense systems installed on its flight path. The authors aim to demonstrate how AI-based methods can help flight planners avoid such events and provide insights into pre-flight risk assessment.
