Effects of carbon and molybdenum on the nanostructural evolution and strength/ductility trade-off in Fe40Mn40Co10Cr10 high-entropy alloys

Mohsen Saboktakin Rizi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of carbon and molybdenum on the strain-induced nanostructural evolution and strength-ductility trade-off in Fe40Mn40Co10Cr10, Fe39.5Mn40Co10Cr10C0.5, and Fe38.3Mn40Co10Cr10Mo1.7 high-entropy alloys at different temperatures. The addition of molybdenum enhanced the metastability and volume fraction of epsilon-martensite in Fe38.3Mn40Co10Cr10Mo1.7 at cryogenic temperature. The fraction of annealing twins played a significant role in the nanostructural evolution and grain refinement of Fe38.3Mn40Co10Cr10Mo1.7. By modifying the alloy composition, the nanostructural evolution was controlled through changes in stacking fault energy, friction stress for cross slip, and Gibbs free energy for phase transformation.

Hydroxyapatite nanoparticles synthesized with a wide range of Ca/P molar ratios and their structural, optical, and dielectric characterization

Shreyas J. Kashyap et al.

Summary: In this study, hydroxyapatite (HAp) nanomaterials with different Ca/P molar ratios were synthesized using a wet-chemical precipitation method. The samples were characterized using various techniques, including SEM, EDX, FT-IR, UV-vis DRS, XRPD, Rietveld refinement, and dielectric spectroscopy. The results showed that the synthesized HAp particles were spherical in shape and highly agglomerated, and the chemical composition was in good agreement with the theoretical Ca/P ratio. Spectroscopic analysis revealed the presence of characteristic functional groups. Phase analysis and thermal analysis indicated that the secondary phases and phase transitions depended on the Ca/P ratio. The study on the dielectric properties demonstrated that the dielectric constant and dielectric loss decreased with increasing frequency, while the AC electrical conductivity increased following the Jonscher universal power law.
