Immobilization of Bacteriophages in Ex Tempore Hydrogel for the Treatment of Burn Wound Infection

Summary: In this study, the efficacy of topical bacteriophage therapy and systemic antibiotic therapy in treating wound infections caused by ESKAPE pathogens was compared. The results showed that PVA-based hydrogel wound dressings can be used as bacteriophage carriers for local antimicrobial therapy ahead of free skin grafting, leading to increased indices of proliferative activity and angiogenesis in the area of engraftment of the split-thickness skin grafts.

Summary: The study demonstrated the effectiveness of hypochlorous acid (HClO) solution against SARS-CoV-2, with the ability to effectively inactivate the virus in a short period of time. Both suspension and carrier tests showed that HClO solutions at concentrations of 125 ppm and 56.3 ppm can rapidly reduce the viral titers of SARS-CoV-2 within 10 minutes and 10 seconds, respectively.
