Axial compressive performance of RC columns strengthened with prestressed CFRP fabric combined with UHPC jacket

Chun-ling Lu et al.

Summary: A new method of strengthening RC columns is proposed in this study, which combines prestressed carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) fabric and an ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) jacket. The performance of the new method was investigated through testing eight concrete columns strengthened with different methods and one unstrengthened column under axial compression. The results showed that the combined action of CFRP fabric and a UHPC jacket can significantly improve the load carrying capacity and ductility of the RC columns, surpassing the gains offered by individual strengthening methods.

Shear performances of reinforced ultra-high performance concrete short beams

Baochun Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigates the shear performance of reinforced ultra-high performance concrete (R-UHPC) short beams and proposes a calculation method for their shear capacity. Test results demonstrate that the shear capacity of R-UHPC beams increases with the increase of steel fiber volume fraction, longitudinal reinforcement ratio, and stirrup ratio, while it decreases with the increase of shear span-to-depth ratio. The current calculation methods underestimated the shear capacity of R-UHPC beams due to the neglecting of these significant parameters. A proposed method based on the modified compression field theory (MCFT) exhibits higher accuracy and less dispersion compared to the methods specified by current codes.

Enhancing the strain-hardening performance of ultra-high performance concrete by tailoring matrix toughness and fiber parameters

Zi-Wei Cai et al.

Summary: This research focuses on improving the tensile performance of ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) by adjusting fiber parameters and matrix toughness. Different fiber shapes, fiber aspect ratios, fiber hybridization, and crumb rubber are utilized to enhance the tensile properties of UHPC. The results show that the incorporation of crumb rubber has the most significant effect on enhancing tensile strength and strain capacity, leading to a significant improvement in the tensile properties of UHPC.

Calibration of KCC model for UHPC under impact and blast loadings

Q. Su et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a comprehensive calibration procedure and parameter generation method for UHPC models to accurately predict the dynamic behavior of UHPC members under dynamic loadings. Experimental and analytical data are used to calibrate the parameters, and numerical simulations are conducted for validation. This study provides valuable references for designing and evaluating UHPC structural members under potential impact and blast loadings.

Experimental study on shear performances of ultra-high performance concrete deep beams

Baochun Chen et al.

Summary: This study experimentally investigates the shear behaviors of ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) deep beams, considering different parameters. The results show that the shear strength of UHPC specimens increases with concrete strength and reinforcement ratio, but decreases with increasing shear span to effective depth ratio. Both beam action and arch action coexist in UHPC deep beams.
